Swalewoods are the Forestry Agents for numerous large estates, directly managing over 3000 acres of woodland across the North of England. We survey woodland to ensure accurate mapping and data, prepare Forestry Commission approved Woodland Management Plans and Felling Licences, arrange timber sales, manage contractors to undertake felling & planting works, and arrange & administer Countryside Stewardship Schemes. We recognise that each woodland owner is unique, with a different perspective and set of management objectives. We offer a bespoke approach, tailoring our management to the needs of each site and client.

Woodland Establishment

Swalewoods offer a complete service arranging new planting schemes for clients. From unused field-corners to large commercial blocks, most new planting schemes can be fully grant-funded and offer a range of benefits to landowners. Whether you wish to boost the ecological value of land, generate a sustainable source of income, or improve the amenity value of your holding, Swalewoods can design and implement woodlands establishment schemes to suit any requirements.

Arboricultural Consultancy

Swalewoods offer a fully qualified and insured Tree Inspection service, allowing tree owners to fulfil their duty of care and avoid negligence. We can recommend tree works in accordance with BS-3998 to ensure longevity, safety and amenity of existing trees. We also produce BS-5837 compliant Tree Protection Plans to accompany planning applications and are experienced in working with structural engineers and planning consultants to find creative design solutions which minimise the impact development projects can have on trees.

Arboricultural Contracting

Our experienced and fully qualified team of tree surgeons undertake works for both domestic and estate clients, based from our yard in Grinton, Swaledale. We offer a range of arboricultural services from crown reductions to complex dismantling operations. We handle all required permissions and licences, liaising with Local Authorities and the Forestry Commission to ensure full legal compliance.
